London Stock Exchange is developing plans for a blockchain-based digital asset business

The London Stock Exchange (LSEG) is considering using blockchain to create an “end-to-end digital market ecosystem to raise and transfer capital across all asset classes.”

Murray Roos, LSEG’s head of capital markets, previously revealed that the London Stock Exchange has been exploring the creation of a blockchain-based trading platform for about a year and has reached a “tipping point.”

LSEG is considering creating a separate legal entity for its digital markets business and hopes to have it in place within a year, subject to regulatory approval.

The company is already in discussions with regulators in various jurisdictions, as well as the UK government and Treasury.
